To us, our dogs are members of the family and we love them like family! God brought our first Brittany, Max, into our lives over a decade ago and we fell so in love with him and the breed that our pack has continued to expand over the years.
In 2019, our world was turned upside down when Max was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. We did intense research on canine cancer and treatments and tried to learn as much as we could to give our boy a fighting chance. Our boy in a dog suit, Max, was a part of a ground breaking immunotherapy treatment study that would go on to help people with cancer, and he had radiation and chemotherapy treatments. It was very important to us that we stayed focused on his quality of life, and although Max did really well through all of his treatments, in late fall of 2019, he let us know it was time. Max sprinted across the rainbow bridge and gained his angel wings on October 25th.
We are fond of saying that cancer did not win that day, rather, we all won because we knew a dog named Max. He was our energetic, silly, funny, and loving black and white French Brittany who loved to chase bunnies, that gave kisses on demand, and that truly loved every second he lived.
It was important to us that we gave purpose to our pain and our experience with Max’s cancer so we blogged our entire journey so that we could give information and encouragement to other pet parents going through cancer as well. Max’s blog can be found at https://maxiesadventures.blogspot.com/.
After Max passed, we wanted his legacy to continue. We are passionate about supporting families that are affected by canine cancer as well as supporting dog rescue groups. We wanted to give back more, and through much prayer and research, we landed on Paw Greetings. There is a serious lack of dog sympathy cards on the market as well as Brittany and other breed specific cards, so we felt inclined to bring that to you.
The dogs we have picked to be highlighted on our cards have either been affected by canine cancer or other dog related illnesses or they are rescue dogs. We are proud of our committed to giving back, and a portion of the proceeds of all card sales will benefit both canine cancer organizations as well we dog rescue groups. We are so grateful for your support and for partnering with us to continue Max’s legacy. Together, we can make a difference with canine cancer and with helping rescue dogs live their best lives. We are grateful for all of those that have supported us along the way and we are blessed because we knew a dog named Max.
